Hi I know many of you from various social media and forum sites. I was never into the Rats in the 70s and 80s. I thought BG was a...…….!!!!!!!!!! well I won't tell you what I thought. When Live 8 came to Edinburgh in 2005 I got interested in BG as a person and what made him tick. I went to a solo gig in Perth later that year and loved it. I met him afterwards and the following year at a conference in Glasgow, where he asked me to phone my late hubby to get the Scotland-Ireland rugby score. Ireland won. I looked around for a fan club or page online but found none, so I started one on Myspace , called the Geldof Appreciation Society, or GAS for short. I used to write and tell him how it was going. When Facebook and Twitter came along Bob knew Jules and I well enough and asked us to manage these music only pages. He really hates social media. I went to a lot of solo gigs at home ( including one where I spilled red wine down his suit) and abroad , including a special tour of Flanders, his ancestral home, until Rats reunited in 2013. Since then I have been at quite a few Rats gigs and have become a convert. They are sociable, fun and loud, very loud. But I still prefer the solo stuff. I know I am in the minority here. The Rats have great, loyal , knowledgeable, friendly fans and I have made so many true friends at a time when I really needed it. This is a great way to spend my retirement. Former teacher, (early retirement) retired 10 yrs, theatre goer, love literature, genealogy, gardening and much more. Thanks

I love his solo collection, too! Love your story of him having you call your ex for the game score! :D
In that area. Lots of nice villages in Fife and East Lothian.
Hello Irene - again - (I do have a life out side the net honearly) I see you like genealogy, I recently traced one of my ancestors back to 1590... the other side goes back to 11oo’s and then to Norway. My Viking roots are strong. :)
It was tongue in cheek really but I do think that every society shuold cater for all walks of life including outfiltrators and outerlopers, and where better than Boom Town.
PS as a dedicated Blackadder fan I’d love to hear Bob recite Baldricks famous poem “Boom”

Hi Suzanna. Good to meet you too. You would have to send a message to the Mayor who is Jules. She and her councillors run this site. They make all the decisions. I am not on here too often. I concentrate on managing Bob's Twitter. Hopefully when the Tour is back on you will get there.
Hello Irene - Good to meet you. I’ve been a Ratter since the late 70’s but due to life getting the way have yet to get to a gig. I’ve recently stopped work to look after my dad and am working on my own music .. it’s keeping me sane. I see you’re an infiltrator, I fancy becoming an outfiltrator or outerloper ... do you think the Rats would consider such positions ?
Who doesn't like Geldoffing? =)
Hi, I have been a fan for 4 years...only just discivered the new stuff, so really looking forwards to exploring
It’s been so good to meet you and others, Irene. And running the FB page is so much fun.
Lovely, Irene!!! 💚💚💚
