Dublin rats!

I was thinking of Paul and the other Ukrainian Rats fans from FB. One messaged me, he and his wife had spent the day underground in a shelter. It’s sounds incredibly frightening.

i'm seeing this comment only now, apologies. but waking up to the news of Kyiv and other cities getting bombed again was absolutely devastating to me. my friends and family are still back home. i couldn't reach my parents for a while - both of them were in different ukrainian cities at the time of the attack. i was messaging my friends, trying to make sure that everyone is okay. and over here in Dublin? no one knows this happened, and frankly no one cares. i still had to go to class and pretend like i was paying attention while the only thing that i could think about was home and what was happening back there.

i moved to Dublin to start college here. i love it so far! it’s been pretty difficult to adapt but i’m getting the hang of it. one of the things i love about it is how accepting Dublin is, there’s rainbows and pride flags all over the place, especially in the city centre. also, generally it’s really beautiful here in Ireland. i’m struggling financially a little bit right now, but i’m still very glad to be here.

I think you DEFINITELY did the right thing, Paul! Life can be harsh (such as a horrifying war ~ harsh isn't a strong enough word in this case, though) but I also feel very strongly that there are these very kind & magical times when we're pulled out of a horrifying situation whether it's an emotionally/psychologically horrifying one or one where we're in physical danger or stuck in a place where we couldn't fulfill our dreams. I'm glad that school has taken you to a place where you already feel peace & happiness. What school are you going to? I'm also very happy to hear of how accepting Dublin is ~ that's so crucially important because anytime there's a place where not everyone is fully & whole~heartedly accepted there are people living without feeling comfortable, contented, & peaceful, and if you don't have comfort, contentment, & peace, you will never get to be your fullest, happiest self. I'm so glad you're already feeling yourself becoming that! And the natural beauty part...I've considered moving to Ireland myself because of that. Trees, plush green grass, flowers, streams, birds, cool fresh air, bunnies, chipmunks...these are all things I need to feel peaceful, content, and happy...I'm so glad you're surrounded by them!
