Hi, Everyone! Today I would love to share, for anyone who may have not seen it, one of the sweetest moments we will all ever see.
Two weeks ago in my tarot post, I wrote about the horrible tragedy at Covenant School in Nashville and I mentioned how Poppy Harlow of CNN had taken note of a drawing with yellow flowers at the entranceway of a classroom police were shown going into on the police bodycam footage. The drawing had written upon it the word HOPE. I didn't yet know what it was but I did somehow have a feeling that hope would emerge from this beyond horrible, completely unnecessary, & completely preventable loss of life, including three 9 year~olds. Nothing will ever make their loss of life worth it but beginning with last Thursday when Representative Justin Jones (District 52, which is South Nashville & a small part of Antioch) & Representative Justin Pearson (District 86, which is Memphis & Millington) were expelled from the Tennessee State Legislature for going to the well of the House with a bullhorn in order for their & the majority of Tennesseans voices to be heard in calling for an end to gun violence, Hope genuinely did appear in a very big way. Within a day, the entire world knew who they & the other member of the Tennessee Three, Representative Gloria Johnson (the Knoxville representative who survived expulsion by one vote) were but, of course, it's not themselves that they're wanting to bring attention to but the fact that bringing an end to gun violence can't wait a second longer.
I'm very happy to say that Justin Jones was reinstated on Monday through a unanimous vote of the Nashville Metro Council and I believe the same will happen today for Justin Pearson in Memphis. In the midst of all of the intensity (needed intensity, of course), there was a very sweet moment that occurred at Nashville International Airport on Easter. Joan Baez spotted Justin Jones & approached him. Justin was on his way to New York with Gloria Johnson (in order to appear on"Good Morning America" the next morning together with Justin Pearson) who got out her phone & filmed the two of them singing "We Shall Overcome". (I love how she even adds her little additional vocals in the chorus!) They also took one of the sweetest selfies we will all ever see! I've posted both of them for you here. I also absolutely adore the picture of the 3 of them together on the couch at "Good Morning America"! They have an incredibly infectious, positive, & powerful spirit that isn't just changing Tennessee but the world!
For anyone who is going through anything where it seems that there is little hope for anything to change, I hope that this will give you the hope to know that it truly can.
Sending Hope & Love,
Jennifer
