If you could have one wish, what would it be???
This is your opportunity to share your greatest fantasies with the Citizens of Boomtown – though only those of a musical nature!! The others you’d best keep to yourself 😉
So, I'm thinking:
· If you could bring an artist back from the dead for one more gig – who would it be?
· If you could travel back in time to a specific concert – where would you go?
· If you could be a fly on the wall at a particular recording session – what would it be?
· Etc. etc.
The only limit should be your imagination!!!!
Clearly, I won’t be able to make any of these dreams come true, but I thought it might be a bit of fun to explore........so what would you like????
To have seen T.Rex live in their heyday and to have seen the recording of Electric Warrior…..an early hit for TonyV. Pistols live (good shout Suss)……and to have sat in on any Rats recording.
Not as greedy as Suss!🤣😉
Suss you greedy get, you were only supposed to pick one wish 🤣
As a non-musician, I'm really fascinated by the creative process that takes a few lines scribbled on the back of an old envelope and transforms them into a song that people want to pay money to hear.
So, I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall at either the recording sessions for The Rats first album or at Kate Bush's sessions for the Dreaming. That album has so many creative ideas bursting out that I really would like to see how they all evolved.
Without question, when I first saw this, I thought of my heartbreak over somehow never having seen David Bowie. 💔 It truly breaks my heart. I love David Bowie. I really feel his not being in the world with us...at least in the sense of he can't bring us new music & bring us live performance. He IS here with us, though. He wouldn't leave Planet Earth entirely. Remember, he's the Mama/Papa coming for us & he's the Starman who watches over us helping his children to live the magical lives he knows we all can live. I'm listening...I love you & miss you, David. ✨🧡🧡✨
Love,
Jennifer ✨🕯️💫 ✨
Would be interesting to drop in on the Mondo Bongo and V Deep sessions with Visconti.
I'd love to track down all the demos for the Rats first six albums. Does anyone have them? Bob or anyone connected with the band?It would be great to hear some demos ,sort of like the Peel sessions. Surely the band demo'd the songs before each album? Would be interesting to hear the band in the studio recording some songs from back in the day. Funny banter etc. Have heard XTC do this with Gus Dudgeon and both Bob and Andy Partridge give full value in terms of wit.
Chris Bailey of The Saints died recently. Always remember going to London to see them in 1987 around release of brilliant All Fools Day album. Would like to experience that gig again, Bailey is a big hero of mine.
I would like to see Nirvana!
Immediate thoughts would be to see Queen in concert (separate from Live Aid) and go to Live Aid. Not sure which recording I’d like to go be a fly on the wall for. Perhaps The Boomtown Rats debut album.
Probably need to think about this for longer but off top of my head would love to see Mercury one more time, or maybe see Meat Loaf for only time. Both would need to be ‘as they were’ to some extent. For a gig, apart from say Beatles in Hamburg or Pistols at 100 club, I would love to revisit Pogues at Hammersmith Palais on St Patrick’s night 1986, my first time of many seeing them, which was electric. Never did see Jam in concert, or the Clash. Would take either. Lastly, to have witnessed Mutt making band do 70 or so takes on Looking after No 1 would have been interesting. Suspect the Rats of two years later would have lamped him. Ps. My wish was to have multiple wishes, hope that’s ok? 😉
