We finally got home to Kyiv!! I’m so relieved we got here in time. It’s been a relatively okay trip, thankfully without any complications. We got to Kyiv around two hours ago.
Entering the city was very emotional for me. We saw all the buildings ruined by russian bombs, I managed to take pictures of a few that we passed nearby. It’s so much more painful to see it up close…
Only then you can realise the scale of it all. I’m attaching some of the pictures. We also passed a few ruined russian tanks on our way to the city, which was a lovely sight.
Coming back home was also exciting, it’s been so long since I’ve been in my room. Everything stayed exactly the same. Except for my terrarium, which is now empty.. I don’t have the courage to put it away yet. I feel so bad for not properly saying goodbye to Magnus and Toki.
Anyway, I have a lot of unpacking to do and vinyl to spin, so I’m gonna get busy with that.
Home is where the Heart is & good on u & shocking circumstances & photos
So glad to read that you are home now Paul, good luck and take care!
Horrific. let’s hope the west continues to support Ukraine for many years to come.
got a couple more pictures to share with you all. i met up with one of my friends and she showed me around the area where our former school is located. if you remember, a bomb has been dropped on the living area near the school (there’s also a kindergarten right next to it). this is how some of the apartment blocks look like.
i think my school was damaged the least, i couldn’t get a clear picture of it. but the kindergarten and the apartment blocks next to it were hit directly, so as a result it all turned to this. there was rubble all over the place. burnt cars, pieces of furniture, all sorts of things that used to belong to the people who used to live there.
Take care bud. Stay safe
Glad you made it home, even though you have to see that devastation.
So good to hear you've all made it home......must feel good to finally get back, despite the difficult circumstances that surround you.
Very pleased to hear you have made it home and it has stayed intact in amongst the devastation around. Hope you and others can stay now and start to rebuild lives as well as properties. Hope playing those records brings a smile too. Good luck 🤞👍🏻
Glad you have managed to get home. Look forward to speaking soon.
