I have just heard on the radio the death of Meatloaf, aged 74. I once queued all night to get tickets for his show at the Ipswich Regent and it was fabulous. He was a wonderful performer and it really was music theatre.
I imagine a few of us will have ‘A Bat Out Of Hell’ playing this weekend. Please let us know any Meatloaf stories/memories you may have.
I still think Bat Out of Hell is unbelievable not dated and was 12 when my brother 1st played it & I got hooked.
It was so good I bought the LP so I could play it in my room as he did in his room at the same time, but my dad was not too happy with the noise but he did like for crying out loud ………
I did see him live and what a character he was on stage and so many good songs.
I went to the Bat Out of Hell the Musical just a few months back and loved it kept me playing his songs until now ( It's a must to see )
A special mention must go to Jim Steinman who we sadly lost last year.
I bought his Bad for Good Album which was a great record but it’s what he did for Meat Loaf that was the key.
They made such a perfect partnership his vision was just amazing, and we were lucky they joined up for Bat Out of Hell 2 which is such a strong album and a few songs from Bad for Good album made it & Meat Loaf doing what he does best nailed them
RIP to them both
Yeah very sad news..First seen him on "the old grey whistle test" & was immediately hooked. Seen him live once at an open air gig in the grounds of Ardgillan Castle co. Dublin 2002 (I think) & he was absolutely brilliant...he had a fantastic band wit him....must have been at least 15 r more musicians on stage wit him . RIP Meat.
So sad. RIP
I remember buying the double CD, Bat Out Of Hell, to get home and find only one CD inside. They couldn’t find the other one and no the copy.
we had tickets to see him in Birmingham in 2006, only to arrive to the announcement it was being cancelled. He was poorly and had been for a few days. We hoped he’d be well enough to perform, and obviously he did too, leaving the announcement very late. Never did get to see him. sadly, now too late.
Such awful news! Such a great musician and played a part in my favourite movie Rocky Horror. Was supposed to meet him last year but Covid struck yet again 🙄
