Looks like something I'd enjoy, maybe in the neighborhood of Paul Auster? I've got it on my list to pick up now, unless @Fat Clint says I need to wait for his audio delivery.

Fair enough. I saw the description of The Third Policeman as a crime novel with a subtext about the nature of existence, and that reminded me of City of Glass - a metaphysical detective story with a subtext about the nature of identity. I searched both author's names together, and the top link is "10 Books That Wouldn't Exist Without Flann O'Brien." The list includes Auster's Oracle Night. Thanks for the nudge, @Fat Clint. I'll start with The Third Policeman and follow withAt Swim-Two-Birds, unless you recommend reading them in chronological order.

The Third Policeman is a less demanding read than At Swim-Two-Birds, which is brilliant but possibly difficult. Stick with it. They are both uniquely mind-boggling and very funny. Have fun.

Most certainly will do. Looking forward to this. Best wishes for your recording project. That sounds fun, too, though I'm sure it's time-consuming work.

Fat Clint is still just about alive, although being locked up four four f#cking months has taken its toll, obviously. Latest reports are that he is recording himself reading a book - and itโs not just to prove he can actually read. Look out for a talking book - The Third Policeman, by Flann OโBrien.
