Great last line! Having listened to the tracks a few times now their harmonies still sound fabulous…..and I accept studios can help……though I’m not sure one has been developed enough to make me sound good 🤪😂

Also fairly indifferent at the time but happy to watch them, well half of them 😊, on TOTP etc. Did buy the Winner Takes it All which was/is majestic, but my favourite song was quite late, the Day Before You Came, subsequently very well reinvented by Blancmange. Love that track. Like many I'm sure, I subsequently added ABBA Gold to my CD collection and came to appreciate they really were better than I'd cared to admit. For me the sort of band I'd happily snap up a hits compilation but unlikely ever to buy a studio album. No doubt this reunion will be a tonic for the supertroupers though.
Like you Jules, I was never a fan of them at the time. They were just there. But nostalgia is a wonderful thing and it’s so good to hear any of their songs now. We just absorbed them over the years.
I thought I should qualify the above post….I meant us not ABBA! I was a huge fan and remain so. I am delighted to have new material to listen to., but did we really ever believe we would see them reunited making music again? Such is the sheer scale of their back catalogue it must have been a huge decision to go forward. And with the idea of this ‘live show’, yet again leading the way.
I thought they were naff back in the day, but over the years they grew on me. I love their music now. It’s good mood music, party music. How the reformation will work, will remain to be seen, but why not?
on said on the radio this morning no other band would attract such international and widespread interest, unless the Beatles were all still with us. Nobody. Extraordinary for a band I once thought was naff.
