Jules mentioned to me that the above photo is, more than likely, the last photo of Garry taken on a stage. 💔 It was taken by Eric Hobson at Lechlade Festival on May 29th, 2022. This was the very last show Garry ever played. 💔 I'm glad I found this out after the fact of choosing the photo. It was sent to me by Rob Armstrong, who wrote the beautiful poem about Garry that I included in my announcement of Citizens of Boomtown tribute weekend. It's also the photo I selected as the Official Boomtown Rats Bio Picture on TikTok. I'm SO careful with my selection of photos for everything and I can't tell you how incredibly drawn I was to this one. Knowing what we know now, look at Garry's face and stance. Look at the way he's taking all of you in. His love for everyone in the audience is radiating out of his face. He's incredibly happy and he's a true Rock Star. (Dolly Parton gives her stamp of approval!) Everything he had that night is everything he ever wanted. I don't know what he experienced physically and emotionally in the months that followed but I do know for sure he was fighting to get back to this and he's taken it with him to where he is now.
