In the excellent interview Bob did with Rockonteurs, he describes his musical relationship with Pete in the following terms. “I put it down on guitar and vocals and come back the next day and Pete’s added stuff. I go “what the fuck is that” and goes “I don’t know what’s in your fuckin head”. We have had this for 42 years. We have an argument, and it becomes a song.”
From early song writing credits with the band, in Like Clockwork and Banana Republic, to his role in Bob’s solo band, which evolved into becoming his musical director, Pete is now the bands producer and co-writer for many of the songs.
It was not until I became Mayor that I realised just how much he does across the whole of The Rats business. I suspect if there was a Boomtown cat, it would be Pete’s job to put it out at night!
We plan to post a chat with Pete in the coming days, but for now would like to wish you a very Happy Birthday and to thank you for all you do in supporting the Citizens of Boomtown.
There will be many Citizens at the Sign of the Times festival to cheer you on!
happy birthday Pete! 🎈 have a fantastic day!
i drew him this rat playing a bass. but i’m not very good at drawing rats or bass guitars.
