I expect that like me, many of you have been playing your Boomtown Rats records over the past week or so.

From dawn till dusk and into the wee small hours, I’ve taken every opportunity to listen loud and listen hard …. and this has been something of a revelation.

I’ve really enjoyed In The Long Grass – not that this should be a surprise: it’s a Boomtown Rats album - of course its good and of course I like it, but it’s almost like I’m hearing it for the first time. Did I say I’m enjoying it? Well. I’m REALLY enjoying it.

Maybe it’s the reflective mood it’s caught me in, maybe it’s something to do with being transported back to 1984 - I love how music can take you back to a place and a time – but out of all The Rat’s albums I've been playing in the last few days, it’s In The Long Grass that’s really fired me up.
