About a week ago, I shared an anniversary post about A hold of Me, which at the time of its release, was looking like The Boomtown Rats’ last single. As we now know, this wasn’t to be and in 2020 we were treated to a new single, Trash Glam Baby. Well what do you think the next anniversary post is all about?????
TRASH GLAM BABY
For this post, I don’t give tuppence about the chart history or the chart facts. For Rats’ fans that lamented the end of the band in the mid-eighties, this single represents the Second Coming …. everything we thought we’d never see again.

Seen by some as the return of She’s So Modern because it focuses on the trials and tribulations of yoof, this was about as in your face and upbeat as any come-back single has the right to be - I loved it from the moment the needle touched the plastic!
Oh, and did I mention it was a proper single? With a proper B-side? And we'll be talking about the B-side soon - because it's just been re-mixed and released as a single to mark the passing of Garry 'The Legend' Roberts - I hope you've all done your homework and listened to Bob's Radio 2 interview yesterday - you'll be tested on it!!!!
I also love that Trash Glam Baby has become such an anthem when the band play live!! The song that just keeps on giving.
So, go get your feather boa…..
Superb come back single and video to go with it.”Remember to wear your mask” said the legend and how frightenly true it turned out to be.
