Unbelievably, in a month (November 9th) it will be a year since this band of brothers on the bench lost their brother, Garry Roberts. Garry's guitar playing was & is such an incredibly big presence. Anyone who's been reading things I've been writing here & there will know just how much I LOVE "Citizens of Boomtown" and "Out The Back of Boomtown" ~ respectively, the single most amazing album & EP to have ever existed on the face of the earth. Garry's playing is absolutely mind~blowing! I'm so, so sad that he had to die so young but I'm also very happy for him that he spent most of his life doing exactly what it is that he loves the very most ~ playing loud guitar and riding his motorcycle! Many of you had the opportunity to meet him. With all of the people on this website, I know there must be so many of you with incredible stories! For the rest of us, even though we never met Garry, it goes without saying that his playing makes a huge impact upon our lives or we wouldn't be here! With one month until it will be a year that we all lost Garry, let's start turning our thoughts to him and things we would like to share about him, whether it's a personal story, how his playing affects you, or a thought you would like to send up to him and then beginning on Thursday, November 9th and all through that weekend, let's keep sending love up to Garry. He will feel it and given that the Boomtown Rats meant and mean everything to him, he will appreciate knowing how much he's still loved here. I PROMISE you, that big personality who made life everything he wanted it to be has NOT disappeared. None of us ever does. We simply move on to our spirit's next phase. So, begin thinking about what you would like to share ~ artwork and photos will be very appreciated, too!
Thank you, everyone!
Love,
Jennifer
