OK, OK, how come nobody told me about this site before!
I've been a massive fan since I was kid. Massively inspired by Bob at Live Aid at the age of 11 and then started buying up the Boomtown Rats back catalogue on second hand Vinyl from the Market in Newport, South Wales. Given my age, I never got to see them live the first time around, but so pleased I saw them at Weyfest yesterday as they absolutely rocked!
Saw Bob solo a couple of times, once at Sheffield Uni in about 1992 supported by Pete B. I remember standing in the freezing cold after the gig waiting to get a poster signed. Then the bloody pen wouldn't work but Bob was patient and got it working. Second time was at the Theatre Royal in Bath - good but not a great venue.
I don't have a middle name but when my kids were tiny they decided I needed one and my eldest (about 4 at the time) decided "Rat" would be a hilarious moniker, so I am keeping it!
I don't think I have met another bonkers Rats fan so looking forward to meeting some if there is a social in the Bath or Bristol area!
Welcome to Boomtown!
Hi @James Rat Moyle - difficult to tell from profile picture but were you by any chance right on the barrier along with a blonde companion?? Someone looking a little like your pic was singing every word and having a whale of a time front middle. Welcome to the site by the way.
I love your story, James! I'm so happy you got to go to the show on Friday...Lucky You! 🍀
Welcome to Citizens of Boomtown James!
Welcome. This shouldn't be a secret. Where did you hear about it though?
You're in good company here. We are all enthusiasts. Most of us were around in their early days, but there are some who weren't, including Paul, the youngest, who is 18!
Have a good a good look around and settle in.
