Artist and Citizen of Boomtown, Nick Barker, and his wife, Caroline, happened along into Nashville last night and found themselves sitting in the 2nd row for Dolly Parton's Global Listening Event of her new album, "Rock Star" along with me, the Mystic Mayor of Boomtown! I wish my mystic powers had enabled me to change the weather. It was in the 60's and humid with drizzle. Needless to say, half of my hair didn't make it into these pictures! If anyone would understand this, Dolly would! If you're not happy with your hair, dice, splice, & throw glitter on top! And that's just what I've done up above! Enough about my hair and on to Dolly's hair!
Dolly's hair looked spectacular throughout the entirety of this special event film! The point of it, though, was to give everyone the opportunity all around the world to join together in hearing an hour's worth of her double album, "Rockstar", coming out on Friday. At the beginning, Dolly says it's her best work yet and I 100% agree! I've been listening to the tracks she's been gradually releasing from "Rockstar" as they've come out & they're all amazing. She's revealed quite a lot about the album as she was going through the recording process but she did manage to keep some of her duet partners a secret and the song she revealed last night with one of them was completely worth the $16.95 admission fee all on its own:
"I WANT YOU BACK" with STEVEN TYLER
Dolly Parton & her co~writer for this song, wrote it with Steven in mind and it's extraordinary. It's passionate and full of yearning. Featuring backup vocals from Alison Krauss & Rhonda Vincent (Rhonda doubles on fiddle), it's my personal favorite that's been made available to hear thus far.
Another highlight of "Rockstar" is going to be Dolly's duet with Simon Le Bon on her beautiful 2001 song, "My Blue Tears". Simon recently said that, for him, it just might be that the greatest thing to come from being inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame along with Dolly last year, is getting to know her.
And I got to know Nick & Caroline last night! I can't say enough great things about them! They sat with my hair! On a rainy day! I didn't even want to sit with my hair! But I'm glad I did because I got to enjoy this great film intro to Dolly's upcoming album with two of the sweetest people imaginable. The misty night~air was giving the evening something of a surreal feeling already but I reached the front steps of Regal Cinema in Green Hills at the exact same time they did and I knew them right away! Not just because Nick was wearing a Boomtown Rats shirt but because Nick look just like Nick! In his pictures! And there he was! When the film was over, Nick & Caroline offered me a ride home and I got to have my first experience of the reversed seating arrangement in an English vehicle (speaking of Nick & Caroline's RV, it's incredibly warm & homey inside and features the spectacular Boomtown Rats mirror above!) Look at Nick and Caroline and half of my hair and how happy we were! Spend some time with Dolly Parton's "Rockstar" when it comes out on Friday and you'll be this happy, too!
Love,
Jennifer 🤍
P.S. Follow the link up above in blue & you can watch the kids who opened the event perform "Jolene" & "We Will Rock You". They were amazing!
