Herman Brood was a musician, painter, actor and poet - and the Dutch embodiment of 'Sex, drugs and rock'n'roll'. I saw him play live once in the early 90s, doing a guest performance with one of my favourite Dutch bands 'Van Dik Hout'.
During my teen years, Countdown was the coolest music show on Dutch TV. Apart from a weekly studio show with artists, they also did concerts that were recorded for radio and TV. Great memories :)
Enjoy!
What a great track. Can we expect a track from Van Dik Hout next month?
A friend who worked in The Netherlands pointed me in the direction of Kane and this reminded me of their track called Fearless……….see below. Not as rocky as your great recommendation, but still a fabulous track!
We would love for more COB to post something for the weekend. It can be a diverse as you wish, new, old….anything.
@joke is majority of Dutch chart dominated by bands singing in English? Seems a shame that very few get the recognition, airplay or plaudits in UK and can't help but feel we may miss out on some gems. Can only really think of Focus and Golden Earring breaking that trend here. Guessing some euro/Dutch(?) DJs may be more successful nowadays but not really familiar with charts since about 2008 🤣.
Didn't look at year of release but this song fits with many one hit wonder bands that flirted with UK charts 77-78. He looks to be dressed fairly punky so assuming that was the period?? Backing girls sound like they came straight off a Mott the Hoople or Meatloaf track. And one day you'll send us a SFTW video that doesn't include a girl in clothes that need to be removed surgically! Not good for us senior citizens of Boomtown blood pressure.
