Boy, this was awful. I had a moment of considering coming on here & telling everyone I was going to turn this into a drawing because all the entries were so good and truly moving but it wouldn't be fair to change my own rules to make it easier on myself. This was brutal! I love and have been touched by ALL of your stories and I'm so grateful for all of you sharing them! And from all of your entries, the winner is...
🎉🍀🎉 JULES KORETZ!🎉🍀🎉
⭐ CONGRATULATIONS, JULES! ⭐
Jules' winning entry into our St. Patrick's Day Lucky 2024 competition can be read above.
What I love about your story, Jules, is that you have some serious health situations (I don't know all of them but I have read you saying you have fibromyalgia & I know that alone is very painful and can even be completely debilitating) which is so awful at any age but it sounds as though you were struck with these things at a young age. Knowing how the Rats' music can strike a person, I think the moment you heard "Looking After Number One", you were completely freed. It's very easy to be struck by that inspiration but then let go of it as you move through the struggles life presents. You've never let go.
I'm going to say here that what's remarkable between Jules, Paul's, & Nick's stories is that they're shared stories of MADE luck, which I think is the case for everyone who reaches places in life they want to be. Paul moved to Dublin from Ukraine, Nick wrote a manifesto to become the 2nd Mayor of Boomtown and in doing so, you had to be willing to chance that the experience could in some way make you never want to listen to the Boomtown Rats again (for people who REALLY love music, that's a CONSIDERABLE loss ~ I have artists I'll never listen to again simply for having read their autobiographies!). All of you took chances that COULD have resulted in DISASTER but you took them anyway, knowing deep down inside you'd be okay no matter what.
I chose your entry, Jules, because it sounds like you've had to keep pushing through a LOT and that you're still pushing through a LOT. I love that you recognize that through all of this you have luck and love.
Paul and Nick, you guys have pushed through a lot, too, and you keep on going and making sure you make life happy because you know you deserve that! Christine, thank you for sharing your friend's story of having found old coins that are very valuable ~ that was a great story!
Your t~shirt will be on its way, Jules (in 2025), after you let me know which one you would like!
🍀 Thank you SO MUCH, everyone for entering, reading, & Liking! 🍀 If you would like to read the other great entries just type #Lucky2024 into the search bar & they'll all come up for you! 🍀
