It makes me incredibly happy to share with you the news that throughout the next couple of years, Band Aid and Live Aid and all of the incredible good each does, are going to be fully alive again in every imaginable way!
Currently, Bob Geldof is working with the man who produced the first version of "Do They Know It's Christmas?", Trevor Horn, to create a brand new version for this year's 40th anniversary of Band Aid! This new version is actually going to be comprised of the voices featured on each of the four existing versions with new backing tracks in order to show the spirit of each generation in its desire to bring an end to the suffering of famine that exists in different regions of Africa. "Just sonically, you mess up these generations all in one take", Bob shared in an interview with the Canadian press this past week. It's going to be incredible hearing & feeling "Do They Know It's Christmas?" ringing out all over the world again this year and knowing all of the good it's going to be doing since all proceeds will, of course, once again be going to the Band Aid Trust.
On the Live Aid front, Bob is working on a documentary which will share the story of Live Aid in four distinct parts, with an emphasis on showing the deep desire each of the bands & artists involved had to bring political change.
Speaking as someone who's sad each year when Christmas is over, THIS year there'll be no need for that! The spirit is going to continue in Toronto where "Just For One Day" is going to be making its Canadian debut in January! This is, of course, the musical with a story woven around the making of Live Aid that featured at the Old Vic Theatre in London for the first part of this year and has brought rave reviews!
If you'd like to read about all of these exciting things in more detail, you'll find it all here!:
It's never too early to say to you:
❄️🎄❄️ MERRY CHRISTMAS! ❄️🎄❄️
Love,
Jennifer ❤️
This sounds great! It would be wonderful if Bob did a version of this song with his vocals only on one of his albums or something. I heard him do it live before and I thought his beautiful voice sounded wonderful with it♥️
