With just a week or so to go to Christmas the COB Team would like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year. The challenges we all face in the coming weeks are likely to be enormous, but I hope by the time we get to Festival season we can meet up at some of the Rats gigs around the country.
Please share your Christmas postcard‘s and it would be fantastic if we had the same response to the Summer Postcard post. I’ve just checked and we are likely to see Suss in Watford and Tottenham!
My contribution is a winter scene from our village taken a few years ago. I’m working away at the moment and very much looking forward to getting back to be with family and friends.
Thanks for all your support over the last 4 months. Jules, Col and I really do appreciate your contributions and in helping us shape the site to be something more than just about the Rats ( though we appreciate that’s the main interest). Thanks also to those who have taken part in ‘How Do You Do’ and Album Club, and those who have agreed to in the New Year.
Here's another postcard ,the missing ones are in the 🚗
Impressive!
Trying to get rid of Xmas overeating
we had Christmas lunch in a pub overlooking the river. Obviously covid didn’t deter anyone it was packed. Hopefully there won’t be any letter regrets.
Here's a postcard from Dundalk Town centre..sorry I couldn't do anything about the grey skies..wishing everyone in here a very happy Christmas..
I don't often go away at Christmas - but the most memorable 'postcard worthy' trip was back in 2003 when I went to Egypt to take part in a documentary. We got to Karnak at dawn and as the sun rose, was able to take this....one of my all-time favourite pics from Egypt...so timeless. Can still feel the chill morning air as I write this.
Happy Christmas everyone
Slightly off topic but in spirit of Christmas - which famous film will you find buried in the lyrics of Rat Trap?
Ps… Postcard from London
Great pictures and a feel for Africa @NeilJ . Makes me humbled to think we moan about the most trivial problems by comparison. Might have to resort to photos of Watford and Tottenham tickets only the way things are going 🙁😷. Will try harder in 2022 to find scenes more interesting I promise. Maybe the mighty Selhurst Park if you're lucky! 😁
Thanks for uploading yours and indeed for all the hard work you and team put into this community.
’And there won’t be snow in Africa this Christmas time’.
I thought I’d share a few photos of where I am at the moment, some of hang
Fishing on the River Niger.
A month ago this was river. As soon as the levels drop the land is reclaimed and crops are planted. I think these are peanuts
A friend described this as ‘the sound of Africa’. Everyday, everywhere from dawn you hear and see people sweeping their immediate living or working areas of dust and leaves.
Young men, many irregular migrants from the region, hire these trailers for about £1.30 a day and haul goods across the capital on rutted roads, horrendous traffic and in soon to be sweltering conditions, in what is a hand to mouth existence.
We did ask HH could do a Christmas remix And at least received a ’LOL’ as a reply! It’s a great song, turn it up and smile!
