In my head I'm basically always walking around to the maracas, castanets, vocals, & lyrics of the 1960's Girl Groups/artists, most especially the Ronettes, Shangri~Las, & Nancy Sinatra, so comfortable in expressing the incredible & dramatic thing that Love is and doing it in the best clothes that ever existed! "Be My Baby" has been in my head ever since I soundtracked the Boomtown Rats Valentine's Day video with it yesterday (Press Play on the Candy Hearts currently at the top of the page!)
The Stones & the Beatles were/are huge Ronettes fans. Ronnie Spector & John Lennon became friends and Ronnie had a story about John she loved to tell:
"I remember we we went to a nightclub one night and he said, "Ronnie, just sing me a little bit of "Be My Baby" in my ear..." And I did, and I looked over and he had pretend~fainted! It was just so much fun, and so much energy then. It was pure rock 'n' roll and just pure...everything!"
I hope she's singing it to him right now.
I Love You, Ronnie & John.
Love,
Jennifer 🤍🤍
